MARKET GALLOP

Mahon today, before the rain came

MARKET GALLOP

Made a flying visit to the Mahon Point Farmers Market  this morning. Thanks to the
weather, it wasn't a morning for hanging around. The market will operate two mornings next week: Wednesday and Thursday.

Fish and bread are crucial and picked those up at O'Driscoll's West Cork/  and Arbutus Bread  respectively. Gubbeen were there, as usual. Would they have their fabulous Venison Burgers? They did. Also bought some smoked Chorizo and a piece of their whey fed pork.

Then onto the Old Millbank Smokehouse  for a couple of packs of smoked salmon before swinging into the centre of the stalls to meet Iain of Flynn's Kitchen. Got a couple of cartons of his excellent soup and also his Risotto, recommended to me recently by Cully and Sully.

Getting wet and cold now as we spoke for a few minutes to Martin Conroy of Woodside Farm who makes such tasty products from his free range pigs in East Cork. Here we picked up a pack of sausages and also a piece of dry cured ham.

Headed for the tunnel after that!
