SWEET, CHEAP AND CHEERFUL

SWEET, CHEAP AND CHEERFUL
Glad I got into sweet wines. Have enjoyed a few over the Christmas and still the sweets go on, the latest a Moscatel from Valencia, the “primary source of sweet budget wines”, according to Mr Hugh Johnson.
From grapes grown on
the sunny plains behind the Mediterranean city, award winning wine-maker Pablo Ossorio  has made this “lively sweet wine”.  Pablo was voted “Best Oenologist of 2008” in Valencia.
This wine is a long way from your typical Oz “stickie” and much closer to a French Moelleux. It is meant to be drunk young, perhaps sipped on its own.
The label also suggests matching it with a Bakewell tart. Didn’t have one handy but it did go very well indeed with an “in-house” cheesecake, the one without the cheese!

Hate to sound miserly but...given that this is a dessert wine, is that price for a half-bottle or a bottle?

Sorry. It is a full size bottle, should have made that clear!
