METROPOLE HOTEL MARKS NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH CORK OPERA HOUSE WITH JAZZ INSPIRED COCKTAIL

The Metropole Hotel has launched a new jazz inspired cocktail to mark the

start of an exciting new partnership with the Cork Opera House.

The All That Jazz cocktail is a nod to New Orleans where Jazz originated at the turn of the 20th century. The Metropole Hotel and Cork Opera House will feature a range of national and international musicians for this year’s Cork Jazz Festival, which takes place across the October bank holiday weekend.

The new drink is a blend of Southern Comfort; Cointreau; Pinot Noir; Citrus; Passionfruit, Vanilla, Mandarin, and Pistachio Orgeat; and Egg Whites. It was designed by Mixologist and Bar Manager at the Met Bar at the Metropole, Kevin O’Leary. It is available at the Met Bar from now until October 23rd.

The Metropole Hotel, which is the home of the original Cork Jazz Club, has been confirmed as the accommodation partner for the Cork Opera House, which is celebrating its 170th anniversary. 

Customers who purchase an All That Jazz cocktail will be entered into a draw for a corporate box, which seats eight people, at comedian Joanne McNally’s show in the Cork Opera House on Saturday, January 31st. The winner will also get an overnight stay with dinner for two at the Metropole Hotel.

Speaking about the All That Jazz cocktail, Group Brand and Communications Manager with Trigon Hotels, Sandra Murphy said: "This cocktail blends old tradition with new by having a classic sour base, which would have been one of the original cocktails, and this is complimented with an ode to more modern cocktails such as the pornstar (passionfruit) martini. A red wine float pays homage to New York jazz and the classic New York Sour style cocktail."

The Metropole Hotel, which is part of the Trigon Hotel group, recently unveiled a major refurbishment to its ground floor area, restaurant and two ballrooms which took 12 months to complete. The renovation of the ballrooms is key to the continued success of the Cork Jazz Festival as well as future events, weddings and conferences.
