West Cork Food and Top Italian Wines to feature at Courtmacsherry Dinner

Best Cork Food and Top Italian Wines
to feature at Lifeboat Inn Dinner in Courtmacsherry

You'll probably be hearing about the Corvina grape at the Lifeboat Inn in Courtmacsherry on Friday March 29th when the wines from the renowned Guerrieri Rizzardi winery from North East Italy will be highlighted along with the work of Head Chef Martin Buckley.

Corvina is used mostly to make light reds such as Bardolino and Valpolicella. But it has earned its fame for being the main grape in Italy's amazing "dried grape" wines, especially Amarone. According to Grapes and Wines (2015), Guerrieri Rizzardi are one of the best Amarone producers and they are regularly awarded for it. Looking forward to tasting that at the end of the month.

The event is in conjunction with one of the Lifeboat Inn's wine suppliers, O'Briens Wines. Giuseppe Rizzardi will represent the winery. David O'Halloran, who many of you will know as one of his roles is to look after the front of house at the Lifeboat, tells me that Giuseppe "is the owner/winemaker at the Rizzardi winery in Italy. He is introducing five wines which will include Amarone, Soave, Ripasso, Pinot Grigio."

The wines will be paired with a five course menu which will be cooked by Martin. "The menu is still been put together as we are still sourcing local ingredients but will include items such as scallops, beef cheek, monkfish. Tickets are €55 per head and you can book through me, David, on our phone number 023-8864656.The dinner will commence at 7 pm on the 29th March."
