Franciscan Well Brewpub Celebrates 20 Years Pouring

The Franciscan Well are getting set to celebrate their 20th Birthday on November 27th in their Brewpub on North Mall.
The brewpub invites all its customers to come raise a glass of the limited-edition Birthday Brew, a Farmhouse Ale, and celebrate the 20 years their doors have been open. There will be live music & brewery tours from 7-9pm on the evening.  ‘We want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and we are very much looking forward to what’s to come over the next 20 Years and beyond.’ Says Shane Long founder of the Franciscan Well.
The Well, as known to friends, was founded in 1998 by Mr Long and in November of that year saw the first ever Franciscan Well beer being brewed. Since then Shane & the brewery team have won numerous beer awards especially for their Chieftain IPA & Rebel Red, opened a purpose-built brewery & has had a very successful collaboration with Jameson Caskmates.   ‘Success over the last 20 years is down to a lot of luck, great loyal customers and an amazing team’ says Shane
It’s not just the beers that has succeeded all expectations, the brewpub has also won numerous awards including Best Tourist Bar in Ireland & Best Outdoor Space in 2018. It’s unique atmosphere is derived from a mix of historical setting, the enthusiasm of the staff & the diverse crowd – made up of devoted patrons & craft beer lovers mingling with tourists, students & local professionals from Cork’s many international companies.

Twenty years on and the pub is continuing to go from strength to strength. Last year, Franciscan Well decided to diversify and opened The Monk, an upstairs addition to the existing pub and brewery. It’s billed as the country’s first brewhouse cocktail bar. Here you will discover how brewers and mixologists collaborate to create a unique beer infused cocktail menu.
