Founder of Good Food Ireland, Margaret Jeffares said, “With Good Food Ireland we seek out those places off the beaten path that people can discover and enjoy. We’re encouraging the people of Cork to experience what is right there on their doorstep. We have worked tirelessly with the best food producers and chefs in Ireland to carefully develop, inspect and bring to market food experiences which are now available on one platform, easily searched and navigated by various criteria. We realise that more and more Irish people care where their food comes from, not just for the local economic benefit, but because it tastes so much better.”

Experiences are as diverse and varied as the food scene in Ireland. For food lovers looking for a unique experience in Cork, head to Ballyvolane House for an afternoon of Foraging and Lunch, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Lunch, or Gin Distillery Tour, Tasting and Lunch in the magnificent historic house and gardens. Ballyvolane foraging and gin distillery tours costs €70 per person including lunch and tastings, and clay pigeon shooting costs €125 per person including lunch. The Irish Salmon Smokehouse Tour and Tasting with a Master Smoker experience on the River Argideen offers an insight into the ancient craft of smoking and why Irish smoked salmon has achieved worldwide recognition for its quality. The cost is €15 per person and includes tour and tasting.

For a little more luxury an Indulgent Afternoon Tea at a Luxurious Georgian Hotel in Douglas might be just the thing at €30 per person, while those looking to brush up on their cookery skills can head to the world-renowned Ballymaloe and sign up for a Cookery Demonstration and Tasting at €80 per person, Hands-on Traditional Irish Bread Making in a Professional Kitchen at €30 per person, or perhaps head to Charleville to try their hand at Goat’s Cheesemaking on Family Farm at €65 per person includes tour and tasting.
