Crisp Spanish wines from Rías Baixas
and sensational Irish seafood served
under the summer sky at Ballyvolane House this August
There’s always one special evening every summer that you remember more fondly than any other. This year, an idyllic Summer Seafood Soirée at Ballyvolane House in County Cork has all the ingredients to be that very one. Taking place on Saturday 10th August in partnership with Rías Baixas Wines, Ballyvolane House will host a four-course summer seafood menu served in their beautiful walled garden (weather permitting) and paired with a variety of white wines from Rías Baixas.
Best-known for their crisp, refreshing Albariño wines each bottle has been specially selected by wine writer Corinna Hardgrave. Present on the evening, Corinna will also be on hand to provide an introduction to each wine as it’s being served, sharing more about this popular wine producing region of Spain.
The Summer Seafood Soirée will begin at 7.30pm with a leisurely stroll around the stunning Ballyvolane House Gardens with a refreshing Bertha’s Revenge Negroni in hand, made only footsteps away in the on-site gin distillery of Bertha’s Revenge. Guests will then be invited to take their seat for a four course menu prepared by Head Chef Steve Mercer featuring the freshest catch from Union Hall that day served alongside the freshest fruit and vegetables from the gardens at Ballyvolane House. Highlights will include oysters and smoked and cured fish canapés to start followed by local crab, lobsters and turbot on the bone, and a summer pudding with selection of Irish cheeses to finish.
Set in the rolling East Cork countryside and surrounded by 80-acres of gardens and farmland Ballyvolane House offers magnificent views to the south and to the north as ancient trees, parkland, lakes and the distant rolling hills of the Galtee mountains beckon. If you would like to make a night of it, glamping is available from €160 per night for bed & breakfast, based on two people sharing. Rooms in the main house are available from €200 per room per night and include a delicious breakfast.

Pre-dinner drinks and stroll of the gardens at 7.30pm, dinner will be served at 8pm. The outdoor dining experience is weather permitting. If the heavens do decide to open the event will take place in the dining room at Ballyvolane House.
