Dishes, menus and events inspired by Cork’s produce, history & culture
Taste Cork Week 2017, a joint venture between Festival Cork and Taste Cork, will be a true celebration of the outstanding food and drink Cork has to offer, taking place for the second year running from the 16th - 22nd October. Restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels are invited to join in and create their very own 'Taste Cork' experience through the dishes, menus and events they feature throughout the week.
“The aim for Taste Cork (a regional branding initiative supported by the Local Enterprise Offices Cork, Cork County Council & Cork City Council), is to encourage local food operators to connect with new local suppliers and producers, and to encourage the development of unique experiences and events that truly capture Cork’s food heritage”, says Rebecca O’Keeffe, Taste Cork.
“This year we will be asking participating venues to add a €5 Taste Cork Plate to their menus, making a taste of the area accessible to all - with the added hope that it might remain on menus year-round to further cast a light on what is distinctively Cork”.
Across the week, the public will be invited to vote for their favourite Taste Cork Plate, Favourite Event and Favourite Venue.
“Following on from last year’s success, we are delighted to announce that Taste Cork Week will this year be teaming up with Diageo and Guinness Jazz Festival to bring you an extended Taste Jazz special running from 23rd to 26th October, with more details to follow.” adds Eimear McCarthy of Festival Cork.
Festival Cork and Taste Cork invite Cork City and County producers, bars, restaurants, hotels and cafes to participate in this exciting celebration of all things food and drink in Cork.
Taste Cork is a regional branding initiative, funded by the Local Enterprise Offices Cork, Cork County Council & Cork City Council, to promote and support Cork’s food & drink sector. Harnessing the power of the community, Taste Cork aims to ensure that Cork’s food and drink sector continues to thrive and that its unique food heritage gets the attention and recognition it deserves.
