Burgundy on the Beach 
A wine tasting dinner with Maison Louis Jadot at 
Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, West Cork on 18th April 

Overlooking two magnificent stretches of Blue Flag beach, just outside the pretty heritage town of Clonakilty in West Cork, Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa is a warm, polished and welcoming seaside hotel which is getting set to host a wine dinner in their Gulfstream Restaurant on 18th April, to celebrate the beautiful French wines of Burgundy, in particularly of Maison Louis Jadot. Burgundy on the Beach takes place on Wednesday 18th April, costing €129 per person sharing, for a 5 course dinner with paired wines from Maison Louis Jadot, overnight accommodation in a terrace room and breakfast the following morning.

 Maison Louis Jadot owns over 60 hectares of vineyard, many of them premier and grand cru, and is headed up by one of the most respected winemakers working in Burgundy today, Jacques Lardière.

The philosophy of Jacques Lardière’s winemaking is, once healthy grapes have been selected, to let the wine run its own course as much as possible. Every intervention he sees as a closing of a door rather than an opening. So there is no formal pre-maceration, no control over the upper limit of temperature during fermentation, no pumping over because that will accelerate the fermentation process while punching down will not. The wine remains in the vat after the fermentation until the chapeau, the crust of skins and pips, starts to slide down of its own accord, at which time the wine has finished digesting the whole fermentation process. Both the reds and whites are of impeccable quality and reflect the individual terroirs of their respective villages and sites, allied with Lardière`s supreme winemaking skills, and some of these will be showcased at the Burgundy on the Beach event. 

Marie-Pierre Dardouillet, Export Director with Maison Louis Jadot, will introduce the wines at the dinner in Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, which will include Maison Louis Jadot, St Veran 2015 – a very dry, delicate and youthful wine which is pale straw-gold in colour with a subtle nutty flavour which lends the wine a soft roundness. Other wines on the evening include Maison Louis Jadot, Chablis 2015, Maison Louis Jadot, Meursault 2015Domaine Louis Jadot, Moulin a Vent, Chateau St Jacques 2013 and to finish  Maison Louis Jadot, Nuits St George 2013, a deeply coloured, powerful and full bodied wine with ripe, robust fruit flavours and nuances of oak in the bouquet. 

Head Chef at Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, Adam Metcalf and his team will be creating a delicious menu to perfectly compliment the fine wines of Maison Louis Jadot. Menus at Inchydoney are full of locally sourced ingredients too, celebrating individuals and businesses in the area who have the same commitment to excellence as this classic seaside gem, and showcasing the finest local talents on the plate just as effectively as on the walls. Dishes will include wonderful local ingredients like Atlantic crab, Macroom buffalo mozzarella, Irish beef from Coolcower in Macroom, oysters from Oysterhaven and new season rhubarb.
